TIL that wetting the subgrade before a pour makes a real difference, not just old timer talk
I always figured spraying down the dirt before a slab was just something picky finishers did to feel important, until I watched a 24x30 garage pad in Lubbock suck the water out of the mix so fast we got crust before we could float it. The guy running the chute told me dry ground steals the water your cream needs, and sure enough, on the next pour we hosed it down first and the finish came out smooth with no chasing. Anybody else got a cheap prep trick that saved a pour?
