Rant: the one homeowner who actually watched me work
Last month I was pouring a small pad for a shed in Hillsboro, just me and the mixer. The homeowner came out with a lawn chair and just sat there watching for two hours, not saying much. I thought it was going to be one of those awkward deals where they hover and ask about every trowel pass. Around the end, he stood up and said, "You know, I've seen three crews do this and you're the only one who kept the edge straight without a string line." That stuck because most folks either ignore you or complain about the price. He even offered me a cold Gatorade from his fridge, which never happens on a job. I still think about that when I'm bull floating a big slab. Anyone else ever get a compliment from a customer that actually knew what they were looking at?
