Blew $2,300 on a ride-on power trowel for my driveway pour and it was a total waste
Last spring I dropped $2,300 on a used ride-on power trowel thinking it would speed up my driveway jobs and save my back. I ran it on a 1,200 square foot pour in Amarillo and the thing bounced so hard it left chatter marks all over the finish. I spent more time on my knees fixing those marks with a hand trowel than if I had just done the whole thing by hand from the start. Then the hydraulic pump started leaking after three jobs and the shop quoted me $800 just to look at it. I sold it for $900 and ate the loss, which still stings when I think about it. Anyone else get burned buying used equipment that was someone else's problem, and what do you actually check before handing over cash?
