Vent: A customer in Akron had a PC that wouldn't boot, just beeped once.

After pulling the RAM for the third time, I noticed a single bent pin on the CPU socket I'd missed. Anyone have a good method for straightening those without a special tool?

Straightening a pin with a mechanical pencil works. Take out the lead first. The empty tip fits over the pin. Gives you control to bend it back slowly. A razor blade can also work to lift it up from the side. Just go real slow, one tiny nudge at a time.

Yeah I actually saw a video about that recently, some guy used a mechanical pencil to fix bent pins on a old motherboard. He was talking about how the pencil tip keeps you from slipping and messing up the pin next to it, which is honestly the worst part when you're trying to be careful.
