Ran memtest on a stick of RAM for 6 hours, then just reseated it and it worked fine
Client dropped off a PC in Santa Fe last month that was blue screening every 20 minutes, so I pulled the two RAM sticks and ran memtest on each one overnight. Six hours later, stick A threw 14 errors and stick B was clean, so I quoted him a replacement. Before ordering it, I pulled stick A out of the trash can, blew the dust off the slot with compressed air, and clicked it back in just to double check. Ran it for three days straight, zero crashes, and the slot was the real problem the whole time. Now I keep a can of air on the bench and do the boring stuff first, has anyone else had a slot go bad and act like dead memory?
