Just remembered how much I wasted on a 'universal' diagnostic tool back in 2010
Spent nearly $400 on a gadget that barely worked on half the systems it claimed to support... anyone else have a story about a tool that was a total dud?

My buddy bought a "professional" torque wrench set that was supposed to be calibrated for life. The thing was off by like 15% right out of the box, he almost stripped the bolts on his engine block.

Yeah, the "calibrated for life" thing gets me. I bought a fancy multimeter that swore it was lab grade, but it read voltages like it was guessing. I trusted it to fix an old stereo and basically cooked the board. Felt real smart that day.
