Hit 500 motherboard repairs last week and it got me thinking
I've been doing bench work on the side for about 4 years now, mostly local drop-offs. Last Tuesday I counted up my repair logs and realized I'd hit exactly 500 motherboard repairs, not counting simple swaps or PSU replacements. Most were bad caps or blown mosfets on older Dell and HP boards from office PCs. Is that a decent number for a part-timer, or am I just slow compared to you guys who do this full time?

500 repairs in 4 years part time is solid, most people burn out way before that. Reminds me of a buddy who fixed arcade boards on the side and he kept a jar of blown caps on his desk just to see how high it would get. Ended up with like three jars full before his wife made him throw them out.

Wow, I heard someone online say those old cap jars look like some kind of weird art project, @anthony_lane55.
