Appreciation post: the $3 notebook I bought at a hardware store in Tulsa 2 years ago is still my favorite
I picked up this little pocket notebook at a True Value in Tulsa about 2 years ago because it was on the clearance rack for $3. I tossed it in my jacket and forgot about it. Last month I finally filled the whole thing up, and flipping back through it I realized I had written down maybe 40 recommendations from people at work, cookouts, and the gym, everything from a good taco spot to a podcast about old diners. Looking at that list, it hit me that almost all the stuff I actually enjoy now came from someone just telling me about it in person, not from ads or anything online. I'm about to start notebook number two, so what's the last recommendation a friend gave you that actually stuck?
