Shoutout to the diver who told me to always zip my drysuit pocket the right way

I overheard a guy at the dock in Fort Lauderdale say he lost his favorite dive knife because his pocket was zipped upside down, and after I did the exact same thing last Tuesday on a salvage job, I finally realized he was giving me a free lesson I should have taken seriously.

Man, I just read a study that said over 60% of dive gear losses happen because of simple user error like this. So yeah @the_henry, it might not be a regulator but losing a knife on a wreck dive can mess up your whole day if you need to cut a line. That fifty bucks adds up fast when you're replacing gear every other month.

Hold up, is losing a dive knife really the end of the world? I mean, it sucks to lose gear, especially when it's expensive, but you can buy another knife for like forty bucks. People act like they lost a wedding ring or something. Zipping pockets the right way is a good tip, sure, but call me when you lose a tank or a regulator, then we can talk about a real tragedy.
