DAE have their umbilical snag on a job in the Gulf last month?
Last month we were working a pipeline inspection job out of Fourchon, Louisiana, and around the 40 foot mark my umbilical caught on a piece of junk metal hanging off the structure. It was about 6:45 in the morning, second dive of the day, and I felt the line go tight while I was trying to swing over to the next flange. I stopped moving right away, backed off the throttle, and gave two tugs so the tender knew something was off. We spent almost 25 minutes working it loose by hand in near zero vis, and my surface guy kept talking me through it the whole time. Turns out the clamp on the line was riding wrong and nobody caught it during the pre-dive check. Has anyone else had their line snag this year, and what did your crew do differently after?
