Watch out for the comic shops that rebag and board everything

Ngl, I went to this shop near Austin that used to have a decent back issue bin, but now they slap a $3 premium on every single book even if it's a common 90s run. Has anyone else noticed their local store start overpricing dollar bin stuff just because it's in a fresh bag?

@milabaker says a fresh bag costs them real money. I get that, but I've seen shops take a beat up copy of X-Force #1, throw it in a new bag, and ask $5 for it. That book was a quarter bin staple until last year. The bag and board maybe costs them 30 cents. Charging an extra $2-3 for that is just padding the price.

Stores gotta keep the lights on somehow. A fresh bag and board costs them real money plus the labor to swap everything. If they let every $1 bin book stay ratty those books would never move.
