TIL comic con autograph lines are way faster if you prep your books beforehand

Was at Toronto Fan Expo last month and spent 45 minutes fumbling with bags and boards at Neal Adams' table while the guy behind me got three sigs in under 2 minutes. Has anyone else started bagging their keys in separate sleeves before walking in?

Oh man, that 45 minute fumble hits close to home. I had the exact same thing happen at a small con last year with a George Perez signing, I was so embarrassed holding up the line while I tried to find my favorite issue. Now I bag each book in its own sleeve and even put a sticky note on the front with the name of the creator I want to sign it, saves me so much stress. It's wild how a little prep turns a stressful scramble into a smooth experience.

Hang on, do you guys really think that much prep is actually better though? I mean, I get wanting to be organized, but I feel like overthinking it kills the whole vibe of a con. Half the fun for me is the chaos, digging through my bag, maybe finding something I forgot I had, and having a weird little moment with the creator. Plus, if I go too smooth, I'm just standing there like an awkward statue waiting for them to scribble on the book, no story to tell later. The fumble is part of the memory, you know?
