That 9 year old at the comic shop who corrected my X-Men timeline

I was at Cosmic Comics in Portland last Saturday flipping through House of X #1 when this kid next to me politely said the Krakoa era actually started with Powers of X after the 2019 relaunch. He walked me through the whole Hickman run timeline like he was reading a cheat sheet. Has anyone else had a kid school them on comic continuity in the middle of a store?

C'mon now, that's a pretty harsh call. Kids today don't have the same access to old comics, sure, but that doesn't mean they don't get the appeal. I know plenty of younger folks who read reprints and digital scans, and they love the art and the stories just fine. Different entry point, same passion. Gatekeeping based on age just pushes new fans away, and we need all the readers we can get. Give the kid a break, maybe even hand him a copy instead of betting against him.
