Spent $120 on a graded comic that turned out to be a fake
I bought a Batman #423 graded at 9.8 from a seller on eBay last month. Paid $120 thinking I got a steal, but when I got it the case felt off and the colors looked too bright. Turns out it was a reprint in a fake slab, and eBay took forever to refund me. Has anyone else gotten burned on a graded comic like this?

Hear me out, is it worth getting that worked up over a Batman comic? I know the money stings but the market for these things is always a gamble anyway.

I started taking close-up pics of the certification number right when I got my first graded book, and that saved me with a questionable ASM #300 last year. @reese550 I get what you're saying about the gamble, but for me it's more about not wanting to feel stupid after dropping cash on something fake. I just check the slab's UV security features now and compare the label font to a known real one before I even pay.
