Just realized my friend thinks you need to read every single tie-in for a big event

We were talking about the new crossover and he said he wouldn't start until he got all 15 side books, but I told him the main 6-issue run gives you the whole story. How do you guys handle event comics without getting overwhelmed?

Oh wow, your friend is a completionist on nightmare mode. I just read the main book and google the rest.

Honestly, that mindset is everywhere now, like with video game trophies or streaming every show in a universe. People get stuck on checking every box instead of just enjoying the main thing. I just read the core event and maybe one or two tie-ins if the creative team is great, otherwise it's a fast track to burnout lol.
