I flipped through comics at the shop for 15 years, now I read them one panel at a time at home
Standing in Heroes Your Mom Threw Out in Elmira last Saturday, I caught myself doing my old move: thumb through the whole issue in about 90 seconds, check the art, put it back. I did that same skim for 15 years and thought I was a fan. Now I sit on my couch with one book and read every panel out loud, and a single issue of Saga takes me 40 minutes. Turns out I was collecting covers, not stories, and it took a bored afternoon in a shop chair to see it. Does anyone else read slower at home than they ever did in the store?
Guilty. Did the same thing for years at my local shop, just flipping through for the splash pages. Now I sit down with one book and actually read the words. Takes forever but I catch way more stuff. Your mileage may vary though, some folks just like the covers and that's fine too.
