That Seattle roaster who charged me $9 for a pour-over left me angry
I stopped at this trendy spot near Pike Place last weekend, asked for their house blend, and the barista handed me a cup with a 3 minute timer and zero small talk. Nine bucks for coffee that tasted like burnt orange peel, I could have made better at home with my $20 drip machine. They didn't even ask if I wanted it black, just assumed because I looked rushed. The whole vibe felt like I was paying for the instagram backdrop, not the beans. Is there any city where specialty coffee prices actually match the flavor or am I just stuck with diner mugs forever?
