I used to hate unit tests until one bug cost me a whole weekend in Austin

I mean, I always thought writing tests was for people with too much free time. Then last month I spent Friday through Sunday chasing a bug that turned out to be a simple typo in a config file, and the fix took 2 minutes. After that I finally sat down and watched a 45 minute tutorial on pytest, and now I actually write tests first for anything with more than 10 lines. Has anyone else had that shift where one painful debugging session just flips a switch for you?
