TIL my town's tool library cut my project emissions way more than recycling ever did
Honestly I used to think my recycling bin was doing the heavy lifting, but then I did the math on my own habits. About 7 months ago I joined the tool library two towns over in Salem and stopped buying new power tools for every little job. My old drill and circular saw came from a store, shipped halfway across the country in a box, and every small tool swap I used to make added up fast. Now I borrow a tile saw or a ladder for free, and I only drive 4 miles each way instead of ordering online. Ngl it feels weird that borrowing stuff beat sorting cans, but the numbers don't lie. Has anyone else tracked how much their buying habits beat their recycling habits?
