That solar panel install took me 14 hours when it should have been 4
I tried to install two 100 watt panels on my roof last Saturday and the racking system instructions were completely useless. Ended up having to watch 3 different YouTube videos and drive to Home Depot twice for extra bolts. Has anyone else had a simple diy project turn into an all day nightmare?

My buddy Matt tried to swap out his garage door opener last fall because he thought it would be a quick afternoon job. Three hours in he realized the new mounting brackets didn't line up with his old rails at all lol. He ended up having to cut the steel tracks with a sawzall and then weld a custom extension piece because nothing in the kit matched his setup. By the time he was done it was 9pm and he had to borrow my angle grinder the next day to fix a rattling chain. He said he almost threw the whole thing in the dumpster twice but now it works perfectly.

Oh man, I feel your pain. Last month I tried to replace a single bathroom faucet and it turned into a three day project. The old shutoff valves were corroded shut so I had to turn the water off to the whole house, then the new supply lines didn't fit because of course they didn't. I made three trips to the hardware store for different size fittings and adapters. By the time I was done I had a new appreciation for plumbers and a serious urge to just hire someone next time.
