Ran into a climate denier at a hardware store and it still bugs me

I was at Lowe's last month grabbing some LED bulbs and this older guy in the aisle starts going off about how solar panels are a scam because "the sun doesn't always shine." I tried to explain battery storage, but he just laughed and walked away. It's stuck with me because he shut down the whole conversation without hearing me out. How do you guys handle people who refuse to even consider the evidence?

My uncle did something similar at a family barbecue last summer when the conversation turned to recycling. He spent ten minutes explaining why putting cans in a blue bin was a government conspiracy to track our trash, then he went and grabbed another burger like he'd just solved world hunger. I remember just standing there holding my plate, not knowing what to say, because you can't argue with someone who treats your facts like background noise. It's like they're not even listening, they're just waiting for their turn to talk again.
