Had to choose between renting a storage unit or just getting rid of half my stuff

Was looking at a $120 a month storage unit last week for all the old furniture and boxes I never touch. Then I did the math - that's $1,440 a year for stuff I haven't looked at in maybe 5 years. Sold a bunch of it on Facebook Marketplace for $300 total and donated the rest. Feels weird having an empty spare room now but I'm not paying for stuff I don't use. Has anyone else just cut the cord on storage units?

Sold the clutter and never looked back. Best $300 I ever made.

Right? The math on storage units is brutal once you actually look at it. It's wild how fast that monthly fee adds up to the cost of just replacing everything if you ever actually needed it again.
