Coworker called me out for using plastic wrap on my lunch every day

At my office in Portland, I used to wrap my sandwich in plastic wrap and toss it in the fridge. A guy in the breakroom saw me do it three days in a row and said 'you know that stuff is never recyclable, right?' I looked it up and he was right most facilities can't process it. So I switched to beeswax wraps from a local maker for about $15. They last me almost a year each and I just rinse them off after use. Now I also bring a metal fork instead of the plastic ones from the cafeteria. Has anyone else had a coworker call out a wasteful habit you didn't think about?

That beeswax wrap trick is solid. I switched years ago after feeling guilty about the trash pile. Plastic wrap is basically evil in a roll. It's not just the unrecyclable part but the energy to make it. That coworker did you a real favor. More people need to call out dumb daily habits. Metal fork is a good move too. I keep a spork in my bag. Small changes add up. What gets me is how defensive people get when you point this stuff out. Like calm down, it's just a suggestion.

The coworker did you a solid. People get way too salty about being gently called out.
