Warning: stop torquing your lug nuts with the impact gun at full blast
I watched a guy at the Pep Boys on Colfax in Denver snap two wheel studs on his 1969 Chevelle because he just hammered them on with the impact until it quit turning. Lug nuts need about 80 to 100 ft-lbs depending on the car, and an impact at full power can push way past that and stretch the studs. I use a torque wrench on my 1972 Nova and have not lost a stud in 6 years. Anybody else see this happen at shops or car shows?
