Rant: NOS water pump vs cheap reman, I picked the $180 option and it lasted 2 weeks
Picked the fancy NOS AC Delco pump for my '69 Chevelle over the $90 reman from the parts store and the shaft seal blew out on the 405 in rush hour, so has anyone else had luck with the cheap remans or am I just cursed?

...and honestly that's what I was gonna say too. @matthewg63 nailed it, the NOS stuff is a total gamble with the dried out seals. I had a buddy put a "vintage correct" water pump on his Camaro last summer, looked perfect in the box, leaked like a sieve by the third drive. The remans might be ugly and made of whatever parts they had lying around, but at least they get tested before they're boxed up. I'll take a fresh seal over a pretty box any day, man. Sorry you got stuck in that mess, that's a rough way to learn the lesson.

Man that sucks, getting stuck on the 405 with coolant everywhere is the worst kind of bad luck. The NOS stuff is such a gamble cause it's been sitting on a shelf for decades, and sometimes the seals just dry out before you even bolt it on. Ive had better luck with the cheap remans lately, at least they got fresh seals and gaskets in em.
