Found out my 1968 F100's original points gap spec was for leaded gas, not unleaded

I was reading an old shop manual from 1967 at a swap meet in Ohio and it said the factory .016 gap assumed leaded fuel, which surprised me since I've been setting mine at .019 for years and wondering why it pings, anyone else run into old specs that don't translate to modern pump gas?
