Stopped by the old mill in Lebanon and the hand-cut joinery on the stair rail stopped me cold
Took the family out to the Golden Lamb for lunch on Saturday and we walked over to the old mill building after. There's a stair rail in the entry with these hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, no nails anywhere, and you can still see the chisel marks on the shoulders. I stood there for a solid 10 minutes while my wife kept asking if I was okay. It made my own dovetail practice look pretty rough, honestly. Any of you ever go look at old work like that just to study it?
