Picked up a framing trick at a job site in Portland last Tuesday

I was helping a crew frame a small addition in Portland last week, and one of the older guys showed me how he marks his studs for headers. He uses a simple chalk line snap instead of measuring each cut individually. It saved me maybe 20 minutes on just one wall, and the fit was perfect. I've been doing it the slow way for years and never thought to try this. Have any of you got a weird time-saver like this from watching someone on site?

Man that's one of those little tricks that makes you feel kinda dumb for not thinking of it yourself, you know? I had a similar moment a while back watching a guy lay out rafters with just a speed square and a scrap of wood, blew my mind. It's crazy how much time we waste doing things the hard way just because nobody showed us the simple path. Honestly makes me wish I had more chances to work with seasoned crews, you pick up so much just by being around them. Glad you got to shave off that time though, it's those little wins that keep the day from dragging.
