Learned the hard way about cheap nail guns after a $180 mistake
Picked up a no-name brad nailer off a flea market table for $40 last month. Jammed on the third shot, then the safety catch just stopped working entirely. Tried to fix it myself but the plastic casing cracked when I tightened it back up. Ended up buying a decent DeWalt replacement for $140 after wasting a whole Saturday. Anyone else get burned by a bargain tool that just wasn't worth it?

Makita's a solid brand but that whole "always check parts availability" thing only works if you're already planning to fix something. Half the appeal of a flea market find is that it's a gamble not a research project. I'd rather spend $40 on a shot in the dark than $140 on a tool I barely use.

Ugh, the plastic casing crack is the WORST. That exact thing happened to me with a "bargain" framing nailer I found online. Realized too late that you ALWAYS check the rebuild kit availability before you buy a cheap tool. A lot of those no-name brands don't even sell replacement parts, so once it breaks it's just a paperweight. I now keep a list of the common jam fixes for my Makita and it's saved me from buying a second one.
