Appreciation post: That job where the homeowner handed me a cold Gatorade
I was working a deck build in Raleigh last August, it was like 95 degrees and humid as all get out. Around 2pm I'm cutting joists and sweating through my shirt, not really complaining but definitely feeling it. The homeowner comes out, an older lady named Carol, and she just hands me a big cold Gatorade without saying a word. Then she said 'my husband was a carpenter for 30 years, he always said a hot worker needs cold fluids.' That little moment just hit different, you know? She didn't make a big deal about it, just understood the grind. I still think about that when I'm on a tough job and someone shows they see the work. Has anyone else had a customer or client do something simple like that that just stuck with you?

Hold up real quick. Carol's husband was a carpenter for 30 years but he didn't know that Gatorade was actually invented at the University of Florida for football players, not for construction guys. That's totally fine, still a nice gesture and all. Just funny how that myth sticks around. My dad used to say the same thing about beer being good for you after a long day, which is definitely not true either. Point is, Carol sounds like a solid lady and that cold drink probably saved your afternoon.

@cole_mitchell8 Funny how we're all just passing down these weird little myths without checking.
