Wasted 6 months on a 'pro' resume service that was total garbage
I was stuck in a job search rut last year and dropped $400 on this resume writing company that had like 50 five star reviews on Google. Figured hey, these guys know what they're doing right? They sent me back this generic wall of text that could have been for any random office job. No numbers, no results, just buzzwords like 'synergy' and 'dynamic team player.' I used it for 3 months and got zero callbacks. A buddy who works in HR finally told me recruiters can spot those templated resumes from a mile away and they go straight to the trash pile. He helped me rewrite it myself with actual metrics from my training gig, like how many clients I retained per quarter and the average results they hit. Landed 4 interviews in the first month after that. Has anyone else fallen for one of those fancy resume mills and regretted it?

Paid $300 for one of those services and got back a resume that literally said "results driven professional with a proven track record." Track record of WHAT exactly? I rewrote mine in 20 minutes using ChatGPT and started getting calls within a week. Should have just saved my money and bought a pizza.
