Switched from applying to 50 jobs a week to focusing on 5 really good ones

After 4 months of getting zero callbacks from mass applying on LinkedIn, I started tailoring my resume and cover letter for each job last month and now I've got 3 interviews lined up, has anyone else had way better luck with quality over quantity?

My buddy Matt runs a small bakery and he told me he gets way more return customers from the ten loaves he bakes with care than the fifty he used to churn out fast. Same thing happens with my neighbor who fixes bikes, he only takes on a few repair jobs a week but people drive across town to see him because he does them right. It's like that old saying about slow and steady winning the race, putting in the real effort upfront usually pays off better than just spraying your resume everywhere like confetti.

The bakery and bike shop examples make sense, but the "slow and steady wins the race" saying doesn't really apply here. Job hunting isn't a race where both sides are running the same path - you're competing against hundreds of other applicants who are also tailoring their resumes. I'd say it's more like fishing with a better bait than everyone else using the same old worm. You're not going slow, you're just being smarter about where you cast your line.
