My boss in Chicago told me to stop answering emails after 6 PM
Three years ago, I was working on a project for a client in Denver and kept burning out. My manager pulled me aside and said, 'Your contract says 40 hours, not 60. The work will still be there tomorrow.' I started logging off at 5:30 sharp and my work actually got better. Has anyone else had a boss enforce a hard stop to save you from yourself?

My old boss made me turn off my work phone at 6 PM. It felt weird at first, but I stopped dreading Sundays.

My last job in Atlanta had a strict 5 PM cutoff policy. I found it made me rush through tasks at 4:45 just to meet the clock. Some projects need a bit of quiet time after hours to really wrap your head around them. For me, having that flexibility to send a quick email at 8 PM meant a clearer morning.
