Just realized the pitch deck tips I got at a Toronto coffee shop were from a guy with no startup
I was sitting at a coffee shop on Queen West in Toronto last week and overheard a guy coaching someone on their pitch deck for like 45 minutes. He kept saying things like "investors only read slide 3" and "you need a hockey stick by month 18 or they walk." I looked him up later and his LinkedIn shows he has never worked at a startup, he is a real estate agent. The part that got me was how confident he sounded and how much the other person was writing down. I get that advice is everywhere now but it made me think about how many founders in Canada are getting their whole strategy from people who have never raised a dollar. Where do you all actually go for pitch feedback that is not just a random person at a cafe?
