Burned $400 on a fake Instagram growth service, total scam

Last month I thought I was being smart when I hired this Vancouver-based agency that promised 10k followers for my food delivery startup. They showed me screenshots of other Canadian brands they'd 'grown' and it looked legit. Three weeks in, my engagement actually dropped and when I asked for a refund they ghosted me. Turns out they just use bots, and now my account is flagged and shadowbanned. Has anyone else lost money to these growth hacks, and did you find a way to recover your account reputation?
