Vent: my 4 person tent slowly became a one person setup over 3 years
Three years ago I hauled a 4 person Coleman out of the car at Lake Texoma with a stove, a folding table, and an actual lantern, and now my pack for the same trip is just a 2 person tent and a tiny stove. It happened so slow I didn't notice until I did a gear spread on the garage floor last weekend and the old tent bag was still sitting in the corner, unopened since 2021. Do you all keep the big base camp setup around for short trips, or did you just sell it and never look back?
Funny how that works, you start out hauling half the house and end up seeing how little you actually need. It reminds me of my toolbox, started with every gadget known to man and now it's a hammer, a couple screwdrivers, and a pair of pliers, and somehow the jobs still get done. Makes you wonder how much of the stuff we carry around is just for the idea of the trip and not the trip itself. Keeping the big tent makes sense if you got kids or friends who tag along once a year, but if it's been shut since 2021 it's just taking up space in the corner.
