My old tent used to leak every time it rained in the Smokies

I finally got a new one after three wet trips last year. The difference is crazy, I stayed bone dry through a whole night of heavy rain last weekend. I think the old one's seam tape was just totally gone. Has anyone else had a tent fail after about five years of use?

Five years is a pretty good run for a cheap tent. My buddy's been using the same basic dome from Walmart for almost a decade, just sprays the seams every spring. Sounds like you might have just gotten a lemon or skipped the basic upkeep.

Yeah, five years sounds about right for that to happen. My old Coleman just gave up the ghost last season, the rain fly coating got all sticky and peeled right off. It's a good excuse to finally upgrade to something better though.
