My $20 chair strap fix outlasted a $120 camp chair

Bought a discount chair last spring and the armrest strap snapped in Maine on day 2. Repaired it with a nylon webbing strap from a hardware store and it's been solid through 14 trips since. Anyone else had a cheap fix beat the original part?
