Camping at Big Bend and noticed everyone either loves or hates the backcountry sites

I was at Big Bend last month and heard two guys arguing about whether the backcountry sites are worth the hike or just overhyped. One said the solitude is unbeatable, the other said the car camping spots have better views and way less hassle. Which side do you lean on for desert camping?

...and honestly I think that guy arguing for car camping is missing the point of why you go to a place like Big Bend in the first place. I mean yeah the car sites are nice and all but the backcountry is where you actually feel like you're in the desert instead of just looking at it from a parking lot. The solitudes the whole reason you put up with the hike, its not like a bug or something you gotta deal with it's the main thing you're there for. Plus the night sky out there is insane, you dont get that with the car lights and generators running nearby. So I'm with the first guy on this one, the hassle is totally worth it for a real quiet spot.

Noah’s got a point. Last time I tried backcountry camping I tripped over my own pack and rolled halfway down a canyon before I even got to my spot. Worth it though, the quiet made my bruised ego feel a little better.
