20 years of using a Coleman two-burner stove and I finally switched to a Jetboil. No regrets.
I was a diehard Coleman guy since my first camping trip in 1998. That old green stove survived rain, wind, and me dropping it off the tailgate. But last summer I borrowed a buddy's Jetboil on a trip up to Lake George and boiled water in like 90 seconds. Picked one up for $80 on sale and honestly I don't miss hauling the big stove for solo trips. Anyone else made a late switch that surprised them?

Hold your horses there. A Jetboil is GREAT for boiling water, but that's pretty much ALL it does. You can't actually cook a real meal on one unless you're eating dehydrated backpacker food every night. That Coleman stove lets you simmer chili, fry bacon, and actually CONTROL the heat. I've seen too many people show up to a campground with nothing but a Jetboil and then realize they can't make pancakes for breakfast. Don't get me wrong, it's a fine tool for ultralight hiking but calling it a straight UPGRADE from a Coleman is just wrong. Different tools for different jobs, that's all.
