Why do people still swear by those flimsy $20 coleman lanterns?

Three weeks ago at Loon Lake I watched a buddy's cheap lantern flicker out by 9pm while my $60 refillable propane one kept the whole site lit till midnight, so has anyone else finally ditched the disposable green bottles for good?

Last year I set my tent on fire with one of those green disposables. Not the lantern, my own stupidity, knocked it over trying to swat a moth. So I get the appeal of the refillable ones, they're steadier and you don't have to fiddle with those tiny valves at 2am. But honestly, my cheap Coleman still lives in my truck for emergency use. It's like my old flip phone, unreliable as hell but I can't bring myself to throw it out. If it flickers out on you, just bring two of them and call it a backup plan. That's what I do now, plus a pack of batteries for the headlamp.
