My tent poles were a puzzle I could not solve for 45 minutes

I was setting up camp at Lake Tahoe last month and thought I could just eyeball the pole assembly like always. Turns out my new tent had color coded sleeves that I completely ignored, so I spent 45 minutes forcing poles into the wrong spots. By the time I realized the grey pole belonged in the grey sleeve, my husband had already made coffee and was watching me from a lawn chair. Has anyone else had a tent setup that took way longer than it should have just because you skipped reading the directions?

Grabbed my tent poles and thought I was hot stuff until I realized the rainfly was on upside down and the whole thing looked like a sad, crooked mushroom. Spent a good 30 minutes wrestling with the pole clips while my buddy just sat there eating chips and laughing. The worst part was I had set this exact tent up twice before, but apparently my brain decided to take the day off. Ended up having to watch a YouTube tutorial on my phone while mosquitoes feasted on my ankles. Now I just lay everything out on the ground and match the colors before I even start.

Hold up, I'm gonna push back on this one. Tents are pretty simple once you realize the poles are basically just big bendy straws and the clips are just plastic hooks. If you lay everything out and check it once, you should be able to set it up in 5 minutes flat. Maybe your buddy was the smart one just sitting there laughing instead of helping you watch that tutorial.
