A retired tech in Reno said my cleaning job was 'polite' and it made me rethink every CLA I do
About 8 months back I handed a freshly serviced Pentax K1000 to a guy who had been repairing cameras in Reno for 30+ years, and he looked through the viewfinder and just said 'you cleaned around the dirt instead of through it.' I had been doing my mirror box swabs light to avoid scratching anything, and he showed me that a cut down piece of chamois on a thin stick gets into the corners without touching the screen at all. My rework rate on fungus and haze jobs went from maybe 1 in 10 coming back to almost none after I changed my swab technique. So what is the one piece of criticism from an old timer that actually got you to change how you work?
