My old lead in Dallas swore by pre-bending the drop at 90 degrees, and I still can't decide if he was right
When I started out in Dallas back in 2019, my lead Marcus would not let me leave a house until every drop had a clean 90 degree bend right above the box, said it kept the cable from kinking down the road. I did it his way for a whole year and never had a single callback on those jobs, but now the newer guys at my shop say it stresses the jacket and just run it straight. Half the techs I ask say Marcus was being picky for no reason, the other half swear bent drops outlast straight ones by a mile. What do you all actually do on your drops, bend or no bend?
