Learned the hard way about cheap toner kits for our splicers
I blew about $400 on a knockoff fusion splicer maintenance kit off a marketplace site last spring. Figured I was saving cash since the OEM kit runs like $900, but the cleaning supplies left residue on our fiber ends and the blades dulled after 40 splices instead of the usual few hundred. Our crew in Tacoma spent two extra days redoing a whole apartment complex run because of it. Has anyone else had luck with aftermarket kits or is it just not worth the gamble?
