Heard a homeowner drop a line about 'internet wall outlets' and it stuck with me

Yesterday in Dayton I overheard a customer telling her neighbor she needed an electrician for her 'internet wall outlets' because the cable guy 'only does the box outside.' I spent 5 minutes explaining that coax and Ethernet are different things, and she still wasn't sure. Has anyone else run into folks thinking we handle all the inside wiring, or am I just the only one getting these calls?

Most folks don't get that the cable company stops at the wall. That part's on them. But calling coax ports "internet wall outlets" is pretty fair honestly, since that's what most people use them for. The real confusion is when they think any wiring behind the drywall is the same trade. A low voltage guy and a sparky aren't doing the same job, even if it all goes in the same holes. You just gotta break it down real simple for people.
