Why does nobody talk about blue tape on plywood cuts

I was tearing out every cabinet shelf cut on my table saw until I ran a strip of blue tape along the cut line last week and got zero chipout on 3/4 birch ply. Anyone else doing this or do you just swap to a fresh blade and call it good?
