Just found out melamine edge banding has a shelf life
I was digging through some old stock in the back of my shop last week and found a box of iron-on edge banding I bought maybe 4 years ago. Decided to use it on a small job and it started peeling off after 2 days. Looked up the manufacturer code and turns out the adhesive degrades after about 18 months. Never saw that written anywhere in the product specs. Anyone else run into old banding that just won't stick?

Heard that loud and clear. I pulled some old banding out of a damp corner once and it literally crumbled in my hands, the adhesive was totally dead. It's frustrating because you don't think about glue going bad when it's just sitting on a shelf. Most people don't even know to check the date code on the box. Makes you wonder how much of that "bargain" stock on sale is actually close to expiring.

Is it really that serious though @riverwhite? I've used banding that sat around for years and it worked fine, so maybe it's just a bad batch thing.
