I used to glue up all my face frames on a flat bench, now I do it standing at the assembly table

Switched about 6 months ago after I got tired of bending over and fighting clamp slippage, has anyone else found that standing changes how you square things up?

Wait, you used to glue up face frames on a flat bench? Like laying them flat on the bench top? That sounds like a nightmare for clamp slippage. I've been doing them standing at my assembly table for years now and I seriously can't imagine going back to that setup. Bending over a flat bench and then trying to check for square while clamps are sliding around sounds like pure frustration to me. Standing up gives you way better leverage and you can actually see the joints from above instead of craning your neck.

Man, my buddy @lee.cole had a similar nightmare with the flat bench setup once. He rushed a face frame glue-up for a custom kitchen job and clamped it all on his flat Workmate, but one of the pipes slipped and the whole thing just buckled sideways. He spent like an hour trying to twist it back square while the glue was setting, and it still came out a bit off. Honestly, he switched to a standing assembly table the next week and hasn't looked back.
