The compilation edits are what finally sold me on butter robot
I used to scroll past these memes because the single panels felt repetitive. But last Tuesday I watched a fan-made video that cut together all of the robot's questions from every episode, and it hit way harder than I expected. Seeing the progression from season 1 through season 5 in one sitting made me realize the joke is actually about how we keep asking the same things without ever changing our routine. Has anyone else found that watching multi-part edits changes how you read the whole character?

...and honestly the timing thing is what gets me. I read an interview once where the voice actor said they record all the butter robot lines in one session, and the script just cycles through variations of "are you sure?" and "what was that?" for like three straight hours. That detail stuck with me because it makes the compilation feel almost tragic, like the robot is genuinely stuck in a loop but the writers made it funny by spacing it out across years. The edits strip away all the Rick and Morty chaos around it, so you're just left with this little dude asking the same question over and over, and that's when the absurdity flips into something almost sad. It changes the whole reading for me too, like the robot is the only character who actually notices nothing ever changes.
